During May 2025, the team organised a series of workshops with Jawaja crafting communities at Beawar, in Rajasthan India as part of the workprogramme for our research project. The workshops are part of our methodology to co-develop equitable frameworks for sustainable futures.
During this visit, the team met with Jawaja weaving and leatherwork communities. This included artisans and the wider community, who had the opportunity to input into the research process. During the workshops, the research team presented the aims, objectives of the research as well as the timeline of the project. They also invited members of the communities to get involved.

The wider aim of these workshops was to:
- Get a wider set of perspectives from different groups within the crafting communities;
- Understand the current challenges and priorities for different members of the community;
- Understand barriers for potential participation in the research.
Based on the discussion, the team will develop communities of practice focusing on various priorities for the community. These will take place during the next few months and will involve members of the community. We thank again the community in Beawar for their incredible hosting and their willingness to get engaged in the project.
